OCTOBER 1 Does go in with the bucks. 3 WEEKS BEFORE KIDDING Does get: CD&T: 2 cc sq AT BIRTH Kids get: Dip navel in Nolvasan (chlorhexadine) Bo-Se: 1/2 cc sq Nutri-drench: 4 cc orally, only if they can swallow; otherwise rub on gums Does get: Nutri-drench: 30 cc orally Dewormed 1 MONTH AFTER SHEARING Pour-on delicer, reapply 10 days later to get newly hatched eggs. SPRING SHEARING All bucks, wethers, and unbred does: CD&T: 2 cc sq KIDS AT 4 MONTH OLD CD&T: 2 cc sq Booster CD&T: 2 cc sq - 21 days later HOOVES We trim hooves as needed. DEWORMING We deworm as needed based on FAMACHA checking and selective fecal checks. FEED Full pasture (no grain) mid-May until mid-September. When not on pasture, all goats are fed ADM Meat Goat Power medicated 16% protein complete pelleted feed. The medication added is decoxx to prevent coccidiosis. The feed also contains ammonium chloride to help prevent urinary calculi. The feed is supplemented with selemium and copper in addition to vitamins and other minerals. In addition, older goats that are having trouble maintaining their condition are supplemented with ADM Fast Fat. Hay is always available when the goats are not on pasture. Loose minerals, sodium bicarbonate, and Redmond salt are available free choice year round. |
